Keychron K8 with Kailh Box Jade switches

Alright, my second “build.” Picked up a hot-swappable Keychron K8 (affiliate link) keyboard (like the form factor, the Bluetooth or wired connectivity, and the default Mac layout - though it can be easily switched to Wintel, and alternate keycaps are included). This fits perfectly on the very small desk (roughly 36" wide, 17" deep) I have tucked into the corner of the living room, and feels nice and tactile, with just enough effort to make for accurate typing. I still love the buckling spring keyboards, but my Unicomps are becoming flaky, they take up a ton of space, and ... Well. I’m loving this board with the Kailh Box Jade switches. The only thing I’m missing, occasionally, is a numeric keypad; solved (so far) with a $20 unit with “blue” switches (I have no idea if they’re Gateron (probably), MX, or what). (I only really ever use it when paying bills, so it doesn’t have to be amazing.)

I discovered Inspect this time around, and used it to test everything as I made progress. (I had one bad insert; my first time doing this (with a K2 that’s my “road warrior” keeb), I had three.)

A friend of mine was raving about brown switches; this K8 came originally with Gateron Browns. I tried them for a few minutes. It was enough to know I don’t like them. Not at all. (If I ever have a working situation where I can’t have Supreme Click™, I’m not sure what I’ll do...)
