HHKB Layout Keyboards (MX switches)

Just collecting the HHKB layout kits and keyboards I’ve found (not including the actual HHKB), specifically, those using Cherry MX-style switches.

  • KBDfans D60Lite kit ($119 sometimes on sale for $99). Comes with everything but switches and keycaps, even a carrying case. I built one using Cherry MX Clears and didn’t love it, but switching to Holy Panda X Clear switches from drop made it a very nice board. VIA, LED backlighting for the keys, gasket mounted.
  • Drop Tokyo60 ($169, sometimes on sale for $119). LED underlight only, and the acrylic diffuser is a $9 add-on. Solid chunk of metal. Screw-in stabs definitely need lube. I’ve built two of these, in Slate (gorgeous) and Coyote (cheap; wouldn’t have been my first choice, but the brownish colorway works beautifully with the orange-on-dark-grey Skiidata keycaps.) Hotswap.
  • Keebox M0110 ($86). No experience with this one. Retro styled to look like the Apple M0110 keyboard from the first Macintosh. May have optional Bluetooth? Hot swap. Built-in feet to increase the typing angle. VIA programmable. I don’t believe there are any LEDs?
  • HHKB Pro Hotswap Kit ($125; $111 for soldered). Underglow LED (comes with acrylic panel). Looks like a knock-off Tokyo60 (except with “sharp edges”)? (Similar colorways.) VIA/QMK programmable. No experience with this one. (YMDK page.)
  • Rama Works Kara. No experience.
  • Unix60 ANSI/ISO HHKB 60% (Very much a DIY setup) (can use a wireless controller) This may be my next project.
  • Keychron Q60 ($189 bare bones, $229 fully assembled). Hot swappable, south-facing LEDs, gasket mount.
  • AKB Vero. ($500+) No experience with this.
  • Anodized Aluminium case for xd60 xd64 60% hhkb layout ($82), case only, needs a PCB (I have no experience with this setup and am only guessing as to whether or not the below boards are compatible). KPRepublic page.
