2023.10.03: Vertiport in Va. is first in US to gain FAA approval The vertiport at Allen C. Perkinson Blackstone Army Airfield in Blackstone, Va., is the first in the US to secure conditional approval from the Federal Aviation Administration. The vertiport is part of a research project, sponsored by the state government, that seeks to expedite the integration of uncrewed aircraft into the National Airspace System by utilizing existing infrastructure.
